How to Brew the Perfect Cup of Tea
11th September 2020
How do you make the perfect cup of tea? Well that’s a tough question, especially when we’re a nation of tea drinkers, with some loving a strong builders brew and others enjoying lots of milk. However you enjoy it, there is a right way to brew your tea and it’s all in the details.
How to Brew:
1. Boil the kettle and don’t leave the water to stand.
2. Place your teabag into a mug and pour the water over the teabag. Don’t put milk in the cup first.
3. Leave the tea to brew for 2-3 mins, giving it time to release the flavonoids.
4. Add your milk and enjoy.
If you put milk in the water without leaving time to brew, the water will be too hot for the milk. If the water is too hot, the milk fats separate and you get a watery looking brew with a thin mouthfeel.
Always always always cover your opened pack of tea bags. Tea is hygroscopic and it sucks the moisture from the air. Uncovered tea bags make tea taste oxidised a kind of metallic staleness. Love your bags and close the box lid.
