Producers Direct is our independent NGO partner who preserve the vital work of small-scale farmers. It’s led by farmers, for farmers.
The world relies on their produce, however many farmers live in poverty because they have no control over the price they receive for their goods.
Producers Direct is a non-profit and led by farmers who know what’s needed to shift this imbalance.
We reinvest our profits with Producers Direct and their innovative and award-winning work has had incredible impact. So far they have positively impacted the lives of over 1.3 million farmers and their families.
Our history with producer programmes
Prior to Producers Direct, we invested in farmers through our Producer Partnership Programme. Here, farmer cooperatives decided where the money was needed most.
This programme funded a wide range of projects, such as:
- Achieving Fairtrade certification
- Switching to energy-efficient heating
- Delivering training on improving coffee quality
- Building quality control facilities
- Providing disaster relief funds
To date, £7.5 million has supported farmer programmes and initiatives.
