At Cafédirect, we’re serious about doing coffee right — and that means taking real action on carbon.

We’ve signed up to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), setting ambitious emissions cuts that are based on what climate science tells us we need to achieve. No greenwashing here — the SBTi independently approves our targets, so we’re not marking our own homework.

We’re one of just three small businesses in the UK’s ‘Food and Retail Staples’ sector to take this step. The need for fast, deep cuts to emissions is real — and we’re in.

Here’s what we’ve committed to:

  • Cut our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 (compared to 2019)
  • Reach Net Zero across all emissions by 2040

How we’re doing so far:

  • 37.12% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2019 to 2022

In 2023, we acquired Bewley’s UK. It’s grown our business — and yes, our carbon footprint too. Our commitment to Net Zero hasn’t changed. Right now, we’re recalculating our footprint so we can build the best plan to cut emissions where it counts most.

We’ll publish our updated footprint in our 2024 Progress Report, due out in June 2025.

Our greenhouse gas emissions by year
