Puro Corazón

‘Pure heart’

“If I had a chance to name our coffee in the UK market I would like to call it ‘Puro Corazón’ – Pure Heart. As it is created with the heart and effort of all our farmer members, in the heart of the Peruvian mountains.” Helgar Zelada Vaqui, former General Manager, La Prosperidad co-operative.

Ejidos San Fernando co-operative, Mexico

Unión de Ejidos San Fernando is a large cooperative with 1,300 producers, and impressively 40% of members are female.  Their mission is aligned to Cafédirect’s: to improve the livelihoods and productivity of its producers and their extraordinary award-winning coffee is made to the highest environmental farming standards. The coffee featured in our Anniversary Blend is a seasonal lot from the indigenous Tsotsil community.

San Fernando has been essential to the Cafédirect journey since 1996.  Since then, we have supported them through training and funding, which helped the farmers switch to organic cultivation, improve their facilities and invest in women’s projects.

La Prosperidad de Chirinos co-operative, Peru

La Prosperidad de Chirinos is one of Peru’s leaders in sustainable agriculture and quality control, being one of the first farms to gain organic certification.  They have been part of the Cafédirect story since the very beginning and over the years we have worked side by side to create truly exceptional coffee.

We’re incredibly proud that La Prosperidad is now a Centre of Excellence in Chirinos, a farmer-run enterprise that provides training, funding and market access to farmers in the region.
