For nearly 30 years, the farmers of Norandino have shown that great coffee and climate action can go hand in hand.
Based in northern Peru, the cooperative brings together thousands of smallholder farmers across the country's coastal, mountain and rainforest regions. Together, they're producing exceptional organic Arabica coffee while finding new ways to protect both their livelihoods and the landscapes they depend on.
We've been working with Norandino since 1997, building one of our longest-standing partnerships and helping shape innovative solutions for the future of coffee.
Norandino's coffee is grown across some of Peru's most varied coffee-growing regions, where high altitudes, fertile soils and diverse microclimates create ideal conditions for producing exceptional Arabica coffee.
Every harvest is carefully hand-picked before being processed and quality checked to the cooperative's exacting standards. By working together, farmers can invest in quality, improve consistency and showcase the distinctive character that makes Peruvian coffee so highly regarded around the world.
Climate change has had a profound impact on northern Peru, bringing increasingly unpredictable weather and damaging coffee-growing landscapes.
Working together, Norandino and Cafédirect have helped pioneer reforestation projects that restore forests, protect coffee farms from erosion and create new income opportunities through carbon credits. The cooperative has also become a leader in climate adaptation, sharing knowledge with farming communities across Peru through its Centre of Excellence, established by our sister charity, Producers Direct.
By investing in practical solutions today, Norandino is helping farmers build more resilient businesses for tomorrow.
Our relationship with Norandino goes far beyond buying coffee.
For decades we've worked alongside the cooperative to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing coffee farming, from climate resilience to sustainable livelihoods. Together we've shown how long-term partnerships can create lasting change - supporting farming communities while helping secure the future of coffee.
It's one of the ways we do business differently - working alongside the people who grow our coffee, not simply buying from them.
