We hope you have missed Ethiopian varietals as much as we have as we bring you this Washed Heirloom lot from the Gedeb district of Ethiopia to our Bright & Aromatic range.

Worka Chelbasa is one of the highest-quality coffee producing areas, located within the famous Gedeb Woreda, an area known for its dense layered semi forest vegetation structure encompassing Ensete ventricosum (false banana trees) and shade trees alike.

Ensete is a staple food crop in many parts of Africa and produces more food per square metre than any other cereal. Ensete is used as a shade tree for coffee plants and the large water reservoir
in Ensete’s torso also benefits the coffee. Using Ensete also contributes to wider sustainable farming across Ethiopia as it provides a food crop for producers and a cash crop all in the same space in a very symbiotic manner, neither plant degrading the quality of the other.
