We are delighted to bring you this limited edition decaf offering from producer Juan Artizábal, grown on the Western slopes of the Nevado del Ruiz, an extinct volcano offering the perfect altitude, climate and fertile soil for coffee cultivation. Juan is known as ‘The Alchemist’ and is part of a community of smallholder farmers from Villamaria, Chinchina and Manizales that operate a wet mill where Juan oversees the processing of all high-quality cherries from traceable farms.
With this expertise, Juan has produced some truly special coffees including this naturally processed Sugar Cane Ethyl Acetate (EA) decaffeinated coffee that is unlike any decaf we have ever tasted. EA is naturally occurring in most fruits and vegetables and is sourced from the sugar cane industry around Palmira, in Valle del Cauca.
This process is exclusive to the Descafecol decaf company in Colombia and allows the coffee to maintain its complexities, flavour profile and unique characteristics, unlike any other decaffeination method.
