“The partnership with Cafédirect is making a tangible social impact on the producer communities. The Cafédirect Fairtrade premiums are helping to provide infrastructure, schools, roads and clinics to the local community. The community take decisions together to decide on priority projects.
An important added value is the Cafédirect funded Producer Partnership Programme (PPP), which provides the co-operatives with technical and business knowledge, enabling them to be long-term successful trading businesses. The PPP has made huge impacts on the quality of the green leaf tea, has provided training in more efficient production processes and has set up a farmers’ credit union. The PPP programme is not about furthering the interest of Cafédirect, it is about strengthening our grower partners.”
