Edward Mwiti

Edward has a mixed farm but tea is the most important crop for him, providing cash income that enables the family to pay for education and health care.

“I feel Fairtrade is helping not just me but my community. It is helping us to do things we never could on our own and we are now doing it together, building a school, clean water and bringing us together, we could not have done this without Fairtrade.

It is also helping the factory and farmers. Roads used to be impassable during the rains and sometimes our green tea was wasted. Now the roads are good due to the help from the Fairtrade premium and we can always get our tea to the factory for people like Teadirect who are our friends as well as buyers.”
