Misozi is the word for “hills” in the local Kinyarwanda language, and you’ll find the coffee growers of the Misozi organisation spread across the lush hills and mountains of Rwanda.
As with all the best quality coffee, the coffee plants here are grown under the shade of trees. This is because coffee beans mature more slowly in the shade, increasing the natural sugars and enhancing the flavour of the coffee. The surrounding shade trees also improve soil quality and ultimately helps regulate rainfall in the long term.
