Like coffee, cocoa is grown around the equator and the humid, tropical climate of the Dominican Republic makes it an ideal place to grow.  CONACADO farmers are located in the North-eastern and central Dominican Republic, and from March until August every year they are busy harvesting the best cocoa that you enjoy in our San Cristobal hot chocolate – named after the area where it grows.

The cocoa is grown under the shade of banana, citrus and avocado trees. Growing the cocoa with other crops like this has two benefits – there is minimal impact on the environment and the farmers have some additional income by selling the fruit at the local markets.

Taste the luxurious and velvety cocoa from CONACADO in our San Cristobal hot chocolate.
