Our 100% Arabica Decaffeinated Medium Roast Coffee has all the silky smooth, vibrant flavour of our original Medium Roast Blend with the caffeine gently taken out. This specialised process uses our Arabica beans grown in the lush highlands of Latin America and creates an easy-drinking blend for day and night. It’s perfect for those who want great coffee taste without the zip of caffeine.
With coffee tasters like Fatima from PRODECOOP, who ensure our blends taste great on every occasion, harvest after harvest, we can be sure that the only thing lost in this blend is the caffeine.
This coffee comes from the following Latin American grower partners:
COOCAFÉ , Más Café, Huatusco, APROCASSI, CECOVASA and CAC Bagua Grande.

Can you please tell me which method do you use to decaff your coffee. As I’m quite concern about the chemicals that go into coffee during decaffeination process. Many thanks, Zosia
Hi Zosia,
Thanks for your question. At Cafédirect we use two methods to decaffeinate our coffee.
The first is called “the CO2 method” and is certified as organic by the Soil Association. We use the CO2 method to decaffeinate our organic products. This process uses pressurised CO2 and water to extract caffeine from the beans, so it does not involve any synthetic chemicals. This method is used for our Organic Decaffeinated Freeze Dried Coffee.
The second is called “the Methylene Chloride method” and uses a chemical solvent to extract the caffeine from the coffee and tea. We use this method to decaffeinate all our non-organic products including our Decaffeinated Medium Roast Coffee and our Decaffeinated Hand-Picked Tea. It is fully approved by the Food Standards Agency as not harmful to humans and is the most widely-used method of decaffeination.
Another consideration around decaffeination is the environmental impact of the process itself. Based on our carbon footprint analysis we know that the chemical process has a lower carbon footprint than the CO2 process due to the amount of energy used. We continually monitor technological advances in this area and working in closely with our processing partners to ensure we can use the safest, healthiest, and most environmentally friendly processes.
Thanks,
