Safeguarding health

HACCP and BRC Global Food Standards safeguard the health and wellbeing of everyone from factory workers to those of you enjoying a cuppa.

While not necessarily mandated by the governments in the countries where our grower partners operate, achieving these standards allows them to meet and exceed regulations in foreign markets like the UK.

Gaining accreditation is also a source of pride and recognises our partners commitment to running strong, sustainable businesses and producing top quality coffee, tea, and cocoa.

These standards also have added benefits for the families and communities of our grower partners as they apply the new knowledge and training on health & hygiene issues in their homes and communities.

Read a brief description of each on the right.

Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)

HACCP is a risk assessment method that systematically identifies, assesses, and controls hazards which are significant to food safety. The system is used at all stages of food production and preparation.

Quality and traceability are now increasingly required by the standards of British Retail Consortium (BRC). The ability to continually meet these targets is vital to farmers finding new buyers in international markets and improving the quality of their products.

British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Food Standards

The BRC requires systems and procedures be in place to ensure adequate control of food manufacturing processes and working environments.

This ensures products are safe for human consumption, meet legal food manufacturing requirements and meet customers quality criteria.
